ABA

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Program

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is the preferred method of treating children with autism spectrum disorder.

ABA is an individualized, structured, data-based approach to promoting the development of social and educational skills for children with autism or autism spectrum disorder.  Research shows that this systematic approach can provide measurable, long-lasting improvements in the behaviors and learning of children on the autism spectrum.

We incorporate a team-based approach that allows our professionals, under the direction of our ABA Director (a Board Certified Behavior Analyst), to design, implement, assess and update programs that address each child’s specific needs and learning style. Critical communication, academic, social, and behavioral skills are taught utilizing the research-proven principles of ABA to encourage generalization of appropriate behaviors and learning.

Children’s Speech and Rehabilitation Therapy is a NYS Approved Provider of Early Intervention Services and under contract with Nassau County. All Early Intervention evaluations and services are provided at no cost to families, but health insurance may be accessed. If a child is found eligible for services through Early Intervention, all services are identified in collaboration with the family and must be authorized by the municipality. The municipality will arrange for service providers to deliver services. Families are responsible for arranging for and paying the costs of any child care or community-based setting in which the child may be enrolled. The Early Intervention Program is funded and regulated by the New York State Department of Health and Nassau County Department of Health.
